Teaching and research outpatient clinic - Lehr- und Forschungsambulanz (LuFA)

Tasks and Aims of the LuFA

The hsg speech and language therapy degree programme operates its own university teaching and research outpatient clinic (LuFA) as a central unit for linking teaching, practice, research and scientific services. On the one hand, the teaching and research outpatient clinic services demonstrate model examination and intervention methods. These are conducted by professors or their staff or experienced teachers from the speech and language therapy programme. On the other hand, students also independently conduct diagnostic procedures, patient education discussions, therapeutic interventions etc. and in this process are instructed and supported by their lecturers.
Equally important, the teaching and research outpatient clinic is a form of “laboratory” for developing, testing and evaluating new intervention concepts originating from research. Here, students and lecturers work jointly in research projects with study participants.

Head: Prof. Sylvia Costard

Interconnected!

The LuFA is closely connected to integrated practice facilities of other universities.
This cooperation, in the case of the Sprachtherapeutisches Ambulatorium (language therapy outpatient clinic) of the TU Dortmund, led to the implementation of a joint internet platform, which students as well as staff can use for contacting each other, obtaining information on the services offered by both practice facilities and further developing the platform.
The address of the internet platform is www.hochschulambulanzen.de. In the future, more outpatient clinics of other universities will be added.
