Co-Determining, Contributing, Having an Ear for You – Staff Councils at the Hochschule für Gesundheit (University of Applied Sciences)

The staff councils of the hsg Bochum are the central contact persons for employees’ affairs. They represent the interests of employees versus the employers' agency in a constructive atmosphere. The particular tasks are governed by the Staff Representation Act of the State of North-Rhine Westphalia (Landespersonalvertretungsgesetz NRW). Both the staff council of the scientific faculty staff and the staff council of the other employees are at an early stage involved in the decision-making process.
Concrete tasks, apart from exercising participatory rights ( so-called Beteiligungsrechte), inter alia encompass:

• Monitoring the execution of the applicable law in favor of the employees;
• Giving attention to compliance with health protection measures and accident prevention regulations;
• Representing the employees' needs and interests, as well as passing on employees’ suggestions;
• Promoting the inclusion and the career development of severely disabled employees.
